St Joseph's Board

Presiding Member, Irene Firestone

 Our  Role

The role of the Board  is to see that everything that needs to be done gets done - legally, ethically, and as well as possible in the best interests of its students. It is also the employer of all staff, including the principal, and sets the overall strategic direction for St Josephs. Our principal, Chris Gladstone, is the board's 'chief executive' and manages the school in line with the board's direction and policies.

Our Board's most important responsibility is for student achievement. We are legally responsible for the curriculum (what is taught), property, personnel, finance and health and safety. This means we are responsible for making sure that all students are getting a high quality education that will prepare them to survive and thrive in the world by the time they leave school.

The board is elected to ensure that the community has a voice in how our school operates.
